第18屆華府龍舟賽登場 拓展我國文化外交
台灣社團在美國首府華盛頓，連續18年主辦龍舟賽，駐美代表處是主要贊助單位，而這也是中華民國拓展文化外交的成果，不過這並不容易，因為現在華府龍舟賽也鬧雙胞，還有別的單位在夏天辦龍舟賽。
台美文化協會主辦的華府龍舟賽，這個週末在波多馬克河登場，今年有40支隊伍報名。
比賽登場前，主辦單位依循古禮，進行龍舟點睛儀式，包括國務院、美國在台協會、和華盛頓特區都有官員出席，另外還有王建民、以及我邦交國史瓦帝尼的駐美大使桂布。
華府龍舟賽是運動比賽也是文化傳承，對主要贊助單位駐美代表處來說，台灣耕耘18年的華府龍舟賽也是做外交的平台，今年有美國總統川普和總統蔡英文的賀詞，而出席的史瓦帝尼大使桂布在接受訪問時也強調，中華民國是1968年史瓦帝尼獨立時，第一批建交的國家，長達51年的情誼就像家人一樣。
史瓦帝尼駐美大使桂布：「我們的國家，正如國王恩史瓦帝三世所說的，台灣不是我們的朋友而是我們的家人，所以我可以這麼跟你們說，我們一家人，我們都是一家人。」
